Dusting blinds can be a tiresome chore that can take up a lot of time. Venetian blinds, in particular, can be more difficult to clean due to their thin slats and often wooden material. They’re renowned for gathering dust grease, hair and can even harbour unpleasant smells.

While it may be tempting to head straight for chemicals and powerful scents, these could do more harm than good.

Instead, cleaning expert Nick Drewe from trends and money saving expert from voucher code site WeThrift, has shared a simple hack for cleaning blinds without damaging them with chemicals.

For those with vacuum cleaners, Nick told Express.co.uk that the brush setting is the “perfect” hack for cleaning dust off blinds and curtains.

He added: “Simply close your curtains or blinds fully and run the small brush fixing of the vacuum cleaner over them to freshen them up.”

Microfibre Washable Venetian Blind Cleaner Duster Brush is also available on eBay for £3.59.

For fabric blinds, some experts suggest putting them in a bathtub with warm water, bicarbonate of soda and soap.

Be careful to avoid hot water as this can damage blinds.

Other experts recommend not getting blinds wet so it’s best to check with the manufacturer if you’re unsure.
