The latest FanDuel Sportsbook promo code nets new users a $1,000 no-sweat bet for any college football game on Saturday. Or really any event this weekend.

Just use this link to get started — no code required.

Here are the basics — if you lose your first bet, you’ll be refunded in free bets equal to the amount you lost. It must be your first bet on the platform. If your first bet wins, you keep the winnings and whatever you risked.

We’ll explain more with detailed examples below.

FanDuel’s No-Sweat Bet, Explained

We already covered FanDuel’s no-sweat bets in-depth if you need further clarification.

But like I said, if the bet wins, you keep the winnings. If it loses, you get refunded in free bets.

Here’s an example. Our Collin Wilson loves Texas against TCU on Saturday — and he’s laying the points with the Longhorns.

TCU is ultra-reliant on explosive plays with expected points rankings of 26th in rush and fourth in pass. Texas has been middling in defending explosive plays, but this is a team with a strength of schedule that ranks third nationally.

There may be other factors to consider, too. TCU has a much lower ranking than Texas in “game control,” a stat defined as an average top-25 team controlling games from start to finish compared to that team’s performance.

Texas not only ranks higher in the adjusted schedule metrics the playoff committee considers important, but there’s also a massive gap in second-order win total between these two teams. TCU has played a number of teams with quarterback injuries and has built up wins against second-string signal-callers.

The Horned Frogs offense may not be as explosive as usual because of injury, and the defense won’t get any pressure on a freshman quarterback. When Ewers is given time and a clean pocket, opponents have taken a loss.

Expect Texas to score a bevy of points given the massive differences in red-zone efficiencies between these teams.

Say I put $100 as my first wager at FanDuel on Texas -7.

  • If Texas covers the spread, I win about $91, and keep the original $100.
  • If Texas doesn’t cover the spread or loses outright, I get $100 back in free bets.

So how do the free bets work? We’ll explain more below.

So How Do Free Bets Work?

Free bets are kind of what they sound like — FanDuel pays for the stake, you keep the winnings if it wins.

Here’s another example.

Because you won’t get your free bets back until Sunday potentially, or late Saturday, we’ll focus on the NFL.

Our luck ratings are targeting a few teams, including the Cowboys-Packers game. Green Bay has been incredibly unfortunate this season, despite all the turbulence around the team.

The public is down on Green Bay after five straight losses. However, three of those were by one score, with one coming by less than a field goal.

On the flip side, perception of Dallas is quite strong, especially since Dak Prescott’s return from injury, after the Cowboys scored two blowout wins against NFC North opponents.

This results oriented thinking needs to be reframed with some context.

My expected score metric shows that during Green Bay’s five game losing streak, they were expected to score 99.3 points to their opponent’s 100.7 based off their on-field performance. That’s much closer to a 50/50 team than an 0-5 team during that stretch.

Instead, they only scored 79 points while allowing 119.

In case you needed any extra reason to back the Packers, Green Bay is lighting up all five signals in our PRO Report.

I’ll take the Packers moneyline at +200 for my $100 in free bets.

  • If the Packers win, I end up with $200, but don’t keep the $100 in free bets. So I’ll have $200 in my account off a $100 deposit.
  • If the Packers lose, I end up with nothing.

That’s why FanDuel got away from using “risk-free” as its offer language. You can lose your whole deposit.

You may be wondering why I’m taking the Packers outright. It’s because there’s an optimal way to use free bets — by betting longshots.

Remember, the higher the line, the more expected value you gather over time. Expected value means the margin between the real odds of something happening and the odds posted by the sportsbook.
